About Mara

Mara Brenner is transitioning to marriage and family therapy after a previous career as a registered nurse. Her years of nursing experience gave her insight into the impact of human relationships on the health and wellness of an individual. She has experience working with people of many diverse backgrounds and appreciates the beautiful complexity of working within different worldviews. She is originally from Washington State but recently relocated to Montgomery, AL, due to her husband’s military service. This move has heightened her awareness of the unique challenges faced by military families, including the significant influence these challenges can have on relationships.

Mara was driven by her desire to make a positive impact on families and couples and decided to shift her career path toward marriage and family therapy. Mara is eager to foster collaboration and connection within families, creating a safe space where individuals can share their stories and heal. Her passion for helping others fuels her commitment to facilitating communication and nurturing relationships. Mara values empowering individuals to express themselves and support one another on their journey toward understanding and growth.

Mara is a current Capella University graduate student in the Marriage and Family Therapy program and is preparing to begin her internship at Hope Grows under experienced supervision. Mara resides in Montgomery with her husband. Mara works with individuals, couples, and families. If you would like to learn more about her therapy style and see if she could be a good fit for you or your family, please feel free to contact her.

She is currently accepting new clients for April 2025.
